Jonas is a big fat liar

sooooooo, I kindda cheated everybody by going home 1 month prior to schedule. Without telling anyone but 2-3 friends.

I left China 1 month easrlier than planned, about the same time as my colleague. Then I went to Australia. Which was AWESOME! Friggin blazin' amazin' country and I want to go back some day. I will probably (actually, if I know myself right, it is more likely probably NOT), upload some pictures therefrom.

OH how fun it was to visit friends that thought I was in Australia :D

"what are YOU doing here!?"
hearing that alot makes you feel welcome home.

oh well

went to Roskilde Festival last week, and it was fantastic. Music and booze and so on.

and NOW, I am jobhunting, as i am out about.... 7000 kroner. (just about 1000 euros, for you foreign people who be reading this blog).

I will prolly keep the blog alive with boring comments on my own life. Exciting!

Australia

Australia tonight, and BOY am I excited.

the last month in china was kindda uninteresting. Since my colleague and good friend left, i havent really felt like doing anything exciting. Sure, I went out a few times to meet some good friends i've made at the international bar, but all in all, it has been a semi-boring month.

SO GLAD ITS OVER

landing in sydney tomorrow at noon, and then i am going to travel the east-coast, from sydney to Cairns. excitement!

blablablapictures....
ill do that when i feel like it :p

take care

Food Fighters

today I attended a birthday dinner. It was a student of mine and some of her friends and my colleague Simon. She turned 21, but you would think it was 12. Never have I seen more immature and childish people, who are older than 18, gathered in 1 room. Me and simon had brought a cake, and more of the cake ended up on the chinesians faces, than in their mouths!

and they kept thinking it was HILARIOUS

even after more than an hour of "playing".

Me and simon could just sit and watch in amazement as all the 20-years-plus-old alled turned 12.

And after that they took pictures of each other smothered in cake, for another hour.

all in a public restaurant

and they didnt even have alcohol. We thankd all that is holy that they didn't drink, coz who knew where that might have ended.

probably in the kitched, in the fishsoup."

Another update from our tall friend

Hello everyone!!

Time for a short NEWSFLASH!

Life is nice and quiet here in Tianjin, which is the city that I live in. The teaching is going well, and I am having a great time with colleague Simon.

This weekend and the last 2 days of the previous week, 3 of Simon's Danish friends came by. They are travelling the world as well, and had a stop here in China! So we hung out with them for some time, and they were really great fun. We went to an amusement park! It was on a national holiday unfortunately, so the place was CROWDED!! We spent 3 hours there, and only tried 5 rides. The rest of the time we took turns standing in line... But it didn't really matter, coz we had a buncha fun!!

We also went clubbing at a really really cool bar called Shitong, where I met this great Australian guy and his sister, who works in China. They earn their money from producing and selling Australian-style Cowboyhats!!! that is SO awesome! They are both going to Denmark next wednesday actually! I guess that is pretty cool.
Apart form those we met a lot of local Chinese, and we had a blast of a night, and morning! (We werent done until the sun rose again...!!)

The following day, after only very few hours of sleep, we went to a Chinese Wellness and Spa center. It was a really nice place, and the costumer service is amazing (and NO, dont think what I know you are thinking about Chinese "massages"...). My body was renewed after a few hours in there, and my skin was so clean and soft! mmmmmmm, delicious!!

And then, the 3 other danes left, and me and simon are now on our own again. Beginning another week of edumucating the young chinesians tomorrow. No exciting plans.... yet!

oh, and by the way, I have a Chinese Simcard now, so I can receive calls from Denmark (and sweden and america and england!). No textmessages though :(

Update:

"China is awesome. After my third week here, I am really settling down.
The first week here was great fun, as a high-school class from a Danish highschool was here on a study-trip. We went with them and saw the Great Wall, The Forbidden City and the .... Himmelske Freds Plads! And also, a lot of different temples and stuff like that. Great fun.
After they left, we began working. And by 'we' I mean, me and my colleagu Simon, another Danish student who is gonna be here for 4 months. He is a great guy, and we really get along great. We spend every evening in his dorm-room wathing The Simpsons and The Office, and various Movies. And speaking of movies; you can buy about 20 movies for the same price as half a movie back home. Talk about cheap and awesome!!!
As for the teaching, it is great fun. We have 7 different classes each week, and we work just about 10 hours a week. Most, if not all, of the Chinese student really suck at Englsih, so it is a tad difficult to teach them, but we are getting used to it, and by the end of next week, we will surely have gotten into the spirit of things. And by that I mean, we will have gotten used to talking really slowly and use words that are simple and easily understandable.
In the weekends, we go to bars and clubs. Mostly we go to an Internatiomal cafe called Ali Baba's Bar, which is great. We have met some cool people, and next weekend we are going to a club somewhere, to hear one of out new friends, Mark, do some DJ'ing.
and that is it for now. Everything is nice and slow and eveyone is great and the Chinesians are all really small and blackhaired.
Will make Soeren update again some other day. Until then, take care!
oh, and for pictures.... I will get to that. This computer really blows, so I am going to wait until we get a fixed net-connection in our own rooms. That way, I can use Simon's laptop to deal with pics.

Greetings from.... Denmark

So we all know Jones hasn't blogged for a while. I spoke to him this morning and he's in China rocking out (with his cock out, presumably). Due to Chinas f'ed up laws regarding freedom of speech/information he can't visit this site to update you all.
I guess that means I will do the blogging for a while and Jones will send me stuff so I can put it here, at least until he finds a suitable proxy server that works over there :) or something else.

Short facts:
-He IS in fact alive even though he hasn't update his blog in a while
-He is enjoying the low prices on everything over there (from food to movies)
-He actually managed to find the school he's working at now, AND
-He started teaching as of today.

I'm sure Jones will send me pictures, etcetera, when he has internet installed in his own room, when I talked to him he was using his boss' computer.

That's it, enjoy spring.

weelaaaah!

Back in Auckland after 23 days on The Road!!!

and what a trip, yo!

bear in mind, that I left my camera in my new Motelroom here in Auckland, so there won't be any pictures yet. I've got hundreds, and I will find an easier way to upload them all, another day. So hang in there, you WILL get to see them. Until them, enjoy this upcoming wall of text:

After my latest update, from Rotorua, I've had the best time of this trip. When I left Rotorua, after... 3 day?... I decided to head for Taupo, a large city on the North-Eastern part of Lake Taupo. But on the way there, I stumbled upon a small place called Orekai Korako, meaning - The Hidden Valley. And with a name as The Hidden Valley, I coulnd't resist going there. So I did.

And it was the most WONDERFUL lake in the world, with free camping grounds, and nice sunny weather. I met a Canadian guy while I was there, who turned out to be really really cool! so I hung out with him, and a French guy as well, at Orekai Korako for the rest of the day, and slept at their camp as well. I didn't have a tent though, but it didn't really matter, as it was a nice a warm evening, with a really intense starry night-sky. Not a cloud anywhere, and the area was incredibly dark, so you could see billions of star, and the Milky Way, and everything. Oh, and 2 shooting stars.

The next day we (me, the canadian and the frenchy) went on a tour of Orekai Korako. It is one of the most active and wellhidden Thermal Areas of New Zealand, so it was really quite a tour, with geysers, bubbling steaming mud, colourful lakes, and a lot of other cool stuff. As earlier mentioned, pictures will arrive later.

So, after our Thermal Trip, we decided that, "Hey, we should totally hang out some more!", so we split my bike apart, and put it in Kevin's (the canadian) car, a lovely 1986 Mitzushitty, and hit the road. We ended up in Turangi, which is a tiny town 50km south of Taupo. Here we stayed with some of Kevin's family, and that was really neat, since we had big comfy beds, and got to eat tasty tasty TASTY food that evening. The next day Kevin's mother's aunt's sister drove us to a great big national mountain-range, where we would do some trekking.

GAH, BRB, MY LAUNDRY IS READY! will continue my blog-update later, or tomorrow.

and trust meh, I've got a lot of further adventuring ahead!

k, laundry has been laundromated. By that I mean, it's clean. Which it really really needed!

back to the storytelling!

The trekking, the day of trekking! We went to a great place with huge mountains, called Tongariro Crossing. With Tongariro being the very same volcano-mountain the Frodo and friends climbed in that movie about a Lord and his obsession with a Ring that is said to Rule Them All, and perhaps even In The Darkness Bind Them. and that is one sweeeeeet looking volcano.
So yeah, we walked in Frodo's footsteps for about 7 hours (Frodo whines too much btw, it really wasn't that hard...) and we had GREAT fun and it was all really cool and sweet as.

The day after that, we drove to Taupo city, where we went to a free outdoor spa-bath. i unfortunately didn't bring my camera there, so I will only be able to show pictures from there, when Kevin sends them. We rented some movies afterwards, and spend the night in Kevin's mother's aunt's sister's house drinking beer and vodka and watch movies. What a DAY!

Day 4 in Kevin and Felix's (Felix is the French guy, duh!) company, ended up with them driving me to Wellington, the southernmost big city in North New Zealand. We spend 2 nights there, just hanging out, meeting people, drinking beer and generally having a blast of a time. This is where I said my goodbyes to the two mates, since they were continuing on to The Southern Islands! And frankly my dear, I didn't have time or money for that. Unfortunately!! But I'll just save that for next time I'm in NZ!

So I caught a bus back to Turangi, where Kevin's mother's aunt's sister lived (maybe I should just call her Sue, which is her name), and spend one last night in he and her husbands company, before getting back on the horse, metaphorically speaking of course. So I left Turangi, and headed north again, towards Auckland, going on the west-side of Lake Taupo. (FACT: Lake Taupo used to be a volcano, but it erupted many many many years ago. The crater is what is now the lake. Now THAT is a seriously big explosion! Woowee!)

I drove and drove and drove, and had a night of camping in a nice farmer-family's backyards. I was gonna rain that night, so they borrowed me a tent for the night. I love the local Kiwi's of this country, they are always so nice! next day, I set off for a small place called Mangakino. I knew nothing about it, except for the fact that it looked like it had a lake according to the map. The map turned out to tell the truth, so I decided to stay and camp by the lakeside of Mangakino Lake for the night.

But destiny wanted otherwise!!

As I said there and enjoyed a WONDERFUL dinner (spaghetti with nothingsauce and airspices), this British Bloke walks up to me. Hilarity ensues:

"Hey mate, have you seen my dog? Also, my name is Ki! " (strange name, eh?)
"Hei mate, I'm Jonas, and nope, can't say I've seen your dog.!"
"That's allright, she'll come back! Do you have a place to sleep tonight?"
"Nah, was just planning to sleep here by the lake, under that tree over yonder!"
"Allright! But why don't you join me and my friends over here for some beers! Pack up your stuff, and we'll have a cold one open for ya when you get there"

and so I went and packed up my stuff, and went to a bunch of people close to where I intended to camp, and had beer and they were really really cool to hang out with. Then Ki asked if I wanted to sleep at his place, which was a place he had just bought, and was now renovating, so I could sleep on the floor on a mattress. I said yes, of course, since I had begun raining, and there was no way that I would wanna sleep in the rain!

Si I stayed at Ki's place for 3 days, and helped him paint, and walked his dog, and it was all cool and stuff. One of his friends then decided to give me a lift to Auckland, since he was going there anyways, and it would be raining for the next couple of days, and I reeeeally didn't wanna bike in rain. So i accepted the lift and when back to Aukland. When I got here, I remembered a woman I met on the very first day of my biking-adventure, who said

"Come back and say hi when you're done with your biking-adventure"

so I decided to do that. Why not? Maybe she would even let me stay for a couple of nights, at her REALLY AWESOME HOUSE! GRARGH!

so I got there, and we talked and talked, and then her daughter came home, and I said hi, and told her of my adventures as well, and about how I met a bunch of cool people in Mangakino.

"Wait, you know Ki as well?" Mia the Daughter would say, rather surprised.

I was surprised as well of course. But yes, it turned out that she, in a 1 to 4point5million chance, knew Ki (and some of the other wakeboarders (I forgot to mention that most people in Mangakino are wakeboarders)) as well, and that she was going there the next day. So I decided to get in her car and go with her, down to Mangakino once again.

Once again, hilarity ensues!

I got there, and Ki was all surprised and stuff, and we hung out for a couple of days, and it was all really cool and junk. When that was all done, Mia gave me another ride back to Auckland, and baddabimbaddabum.

Here I am now. For my last 5 days of adventuring. I'm planning on going to some walks and bikes on the nearby Islands (I'll get there with ferries!!), and check out some museums. Oh, and the aquarium of Auckland is said to be pretty cool, so I'll go there as well.

also, I'm PLANNING ON WRITING THOSE POSTCARDS BEFORE I LEAVE!! STOP BOTHERING MEEEEEEE...
*cough*

hope you are all enjoying the really bitterly cold and unpleasant Danish Winter!

phew

after having slept 2 days in a park, on a bench, I decided to actually move indoors and pay for a room, since I'm leaving for Lake Taupo tomorrow, and it'd be nice to be properly rested for a long ride.

this is how I lived for 2 days :D Eating sandwiches, reading books and enjoyng some quality Netherlandish beer.

Rotarua is most famous for it's areas with socalled 'Themal Activity', which basically means that if you were to walk around barefooted in said area, your feet would be fried. This picture is from a small lake which was arond 90 degrees celcius warm. It is not fog you see, it's steam.

A couple of times a week, you can buy corncobs, which will be cooked in a thermal pool such as this one. Now THAT is sweet as.

cya in Lake Taupo!

pictures!

Here's some pictures for all to enjoy.

Here I just left Auckland City. You can see the skytower in the background! For this entire day, I drove along the coastline, and ended up at several really nice and sunny beaches.

Beaches like this one!

I am now beginning my climb up into the mountains. Or very very large hills, if you like. In the background, yet again, Auckland is visible.

Lunchtime!

So, I made it up onto a hilly-mountainy-top-thing when darkness fell. And driving in darkness in NZ i scary, coz thay drive like madmen over here. So, I rolled out me sleeping bag in some guys backyard, (don't worry, he allowed me to), and fell asleep to the sounds of nature. Cikadees, wind, an occasional airplane passing overhead, those kindda natural sounds.

woke up with the sunrise! Seeing the sun rise above the mountains is something I'm never gonna forget, ever. Absolutaly magnifiscent!

On the road again!

this day I decided to go trough a Natural Reservoir. This huge park-like place, which looked really awesome. I was expecting to go trough a big forest and that I'd spend a couple of hours doing it. Ooooh, how wrong I was. Turned out to be a non-bikeable mountain. So I had to drag me bike up neverending steep hills, to the very top of the montain. From there on though, it was all downhill, and awesome! From beginning to end, the trip trough the forest took me 8 hours. Yes, I was exhausted afterwards.

it was worth it though, coz the top was absolutely amazing! Realy nice view from the top. The mystical magical fantastical thing about this mountain though, was, that on the top it was all pine-foresty and stuff. But when you began biking downhill, before you knew it you were in the middle of nothing less than a genuine super-humid rainforest. It was amazing!

And in the middle of said rainforest was a lake. Most amazing place Ive been in my LIFE! No people, no noise, no nothing. Just a huge big orange beach made of CLAY, and the sounds of nature, and the scorching sun. Choice!

Ride downhill didn't go entirely as planned. First crash!!! I didn't get hurt though, landed in the grassy path to the left in the picture. And yes, I AM touring New Zealand in me jandals.

Made it to Taurangaaaaa, and here I'm just being cool with me mate Zeurel! Sweet as!

Mount Maunganui (or just The Mount for short) just 5 km North of Tauranga. AWESOME beaches, like 4 metre waves just thrashing the beach. So much fun. Oh, and a mountain. Which I climbed.

The View from the top of The Mount! Sweet as, eh?

this concludes my trip for now. I'm currently stationed in Rotarua, where I'm just running about, sleeping whereever I please, eating salads and pizzahs. Will leave tomorrow for Lake Taupo, or maybe in 2 days. We'll see.

Huzzah

im at an internet cafe right now, but I forgot the cable for my camera. So there will be pictures another day!! tomrow probably.

I'm in Tauranga now, after 3 days of biking. I've had my ups in downs during the ride, but mostly it's been good. And by good I mean really super awesome!!!!11

Right now, I'm hanging out with a guy called Zeurel. He's cool. I think only Soeren knows who he is. I'll post a picture of him later, being all cool and whatsnot, along with pictures and videos of my ride here.

cheers!

I like it here

Got to New Zeaand finally. It's awesome here. Warm, humid, nice people, cool locations. It started raining HEAVYly though, and I fell and scraped me leg. But I don't care. I'm off my tits on happiness, this place is so fantastic. While waiting for check-in time at the ACB (Auckland Central Backpackers), I took a stroll trough the city, where I took a close look at the Skytower, which is more than 200metres high. Oh, and you can pay to climp to the top and jump off it. ....

I didn't do it.

Oh, I also bought a bike, so I'll soon be getting ready for my bike-tour of doom. It's gonna be SWEET!!

and then I went for a walk trough a rain-foresty park. And got lost. And that's when it started raining and I fell. But I didn't care. Coz this place is bloody awesome.

oh, and I shaved too.
cheers

Aircrafts and Nature

So, in the past few days I've been doing close to absolutely nothing. What I DID do though, was going to Pima Air and Space museum, which is basically a friggin' HUGE area (more than 1500 acres), of old military aircraft that is no longer being used. They had a Blackbird, almost all the F-fighters (F4-5-6...and so on), the A110 thunderboltII (AMAGAD I love that airplane), and lots more. Helicoptets too.
A10 <3<3<3

There are white spots on the plane, because it's been wrapped in layers of things to protect it from the sun. They do that to all the planes and choppers.

Endless rows of old aircraft. Pretty neat!

This is an airplane that Luke's dad flew when he served in the Airforce. It's awesome!

a small clip showing the Blackbird. Huge aircraft, was too big to get it in a picture. The other plane in the video is just a huge-ass aircraft, that was able to land on water.

Did I ever tell how much I love aerial combat fighters? ... a LOT!

____________

Okay, apart from the Air Museum, we went hiking the other day. Walked up some mountains, about a 8 mile hike (4miles forth and 4 back again... I was exhausted). Neat landscape and no other people. Oh, and no wind either, so it was really stinkin' hot. But I enjoyed it nontheless. Here's some pictures.

____
So that's it for now! Next time I'll be blogging it will probably be from New Zealand. Have fun until next time ya'll !

allright...

time for some pictures!

allright, so here's me and Luke, looking all cool in front of the Grand Canyon. Because of the season, there were NO tourists there, at all, so we had all the room we wanted to walk around an look. Luke's parents told me that during summer, it's REALLY crowded there. Seems I chose a good time o' the year to go here :D

Grand Canyon!

The trip from Arizona to Utah was looooong. And the roads, well, they all looked like this. They kindda disappeared in the horizon, for miles and miles and miles ahead.

and the surrounding terrain was also just an endless mass of nothing.!

We had a short stop in Utah to look at these space-rockets, that were on display outside. Those things are friggin' HUGE!

______________
Allright - IDAHO!!!

This is the family with whom I celebrated chirstmas, in a GIGANTC house! We were 23 people for christmas eve. This picture was taken bfore the last 10 showed up though. The people are as follows:
1. Jenny, Luke's Sister
2. Whatsherface...
3. Matt, Luke's.... cousin or something.
4. Jeany, one of Luke's cousins wife!
5. McKensley, #4's daughter
6. Katey, forgot how she was related.
7. Coolest guy I ever met, seriously, you should meet him too.
8. Uncle Jim. He's 57 and a grandfather of McKensley, and he's super awesome!
9. Mark, Luke's Brother
10. Aunt Kary-Ann, married to Uncle Jim
11. Luke, in all his splendor (maybe not all of it...)
12. Patty, Luke's Mom
13. Eric, Luke's Dad

Super nice family that is! and LARGE! there were sooo many people in the house on christmas day...

WHITE CHRISTMAS!... well, if it were in Denmark at least. Snowstorm on the 24th of December :P no snow on the 25th though, the American Christmas day... pity.

in Idaho, I also went snowboarding with the family, but I didn't being my camera for that. So no pictures... YET!... Luke's father had a camera, and took pictures, so I'll put those up when I receive them from him :)

thats it for Idaho!

next stop, Nevada!!
riding t'wards sunset! woooooh!

This, is Lake Tahoe, in Nevada! A rally giant lake (look it up somewhere, google it or whatever). And a really pretty setting, with sun, water and mountains. Super nice place!the water is soooooo clear!and the forests are so laaaaaaaaaaaaarge. (that's Eric in the picure btw).
and of course - bears.

happy new yeeeeeeear!!!

so that's it for Nevada! final destination - California
the border between Nevada and California, in a border-hotel/casino. Pretty cool :D Hotel is cleverly named 'Calneva'.

SAN FRANCISCOOO

what an amazing city. I'm definately returning to this place in the future!the roads are sooooo steep here! It's amazing. And that red road is the crookedest road in the world!

in san fran they have this old tram-system, which we rode. Was sooo neat!

Alcatraz and Golden Gate bridge was also on the menu :)

and finally, on the last day, we went and saw a college-basket game
California vs. South Carolina

and thats the end of it! 2 weeks of travelling in a car, having a good time. It's been so much fun!! :D

now I have 2 weeks here in Arizona. Will go and see various museums and stuff like that. Might hit the movie theatre too and see some cool movies.

talk to ya later

there we go!

allright!

so, the trip is coming to an end. Having the last breakfast here in Oakland, with Luke's family, this time his grandparents (and ofc his mom and dad and bro' and sis), and we are getting ready to ride all the way home to Arizona.

and the weather is AWEFUL! we're having a rain-storm at the moment. All flights are cancelled! good thing we're driving though, but there's a slight risk of flooded roads. O'wauw!

I've said it before (I think), and I'll say it again (probably) - I'll make a nice update with pitures and videos and all, when I get back to Arizona. It's been an exciiiiting trip!!!

I even met some other Danes in a Virgin Megastore :P I'm not alooooone!!!

cya in a couple o'days
